I have this 1978 200 Lire Coin (said to be the ugliest of all the Lire coin designs) but this one is definitely a doubled die or double strike. I'm leaning towards doubled die type but anyhow. I've not been able to find anyone or any references to such a coin existing. The bust on the obverse is very obviously doubled to the right and the legend shows doubling as well. The reverse appears to only be doubled in the center legend of "200 LIRE" Am having trouble uploading pics at this time. I will include some photos when I get back to this post but for now I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of this type of Italian mint error.
Thanks for the posts. I've been out of town but you should be able to see a pic of the coin now.
Still haven't quite figured out the uploading process yet. The pic doesn't due justice to this coin. The double image is apparent on the legend as well but not in this shot. Will try to add better pics later.
