littlemoney

Nice find..The "6" is doubled like my 1962 nickel below...Noticed the doubling on the denticles also, at least it looks that way.

The question is more important than the answer

That's a decent price for a nice doubling.

Both are nice coins. If interested, I have listed the catalogue numbers (Hans Zoell) of those coins here for you.

1946 is R176c.

Your 1962 also has CANADA with doubled letters, catalogued as R194d.

While this is worn and is not as doubled as the one above, is it also a R194d? The C, last A, 1, 6 and 2 are nicely doubled. Sorry the photo isn't better.

BTW, does anyone have any Zoell catalogues they would be willing to part with?

SPP-Ottawa...what catalogs do you recommend for variety and error collecting? I usually roll hunt Cents, Nickles and Dimes. I will search Quarters once in a while but not all that often. I use Charlton catalog but that I all I have except for the info I get from different websites on line. I would just like to have additional reference material on hand. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you can find them, the Zoell catalogues are decent for small cents and 5c. Hans Zoell's work pretty much ended when silver coins ended (coincidentally). For more modern varieties (which probably is applicable to roll hunting), you can purchase a book from Pierre Charest, which takes varieties to a level well beyond my interests. But, it is a decent compilation, and you can even get a digital version.

Lastly, not everything has been found or published. That is where the real fun is, discovering and sharing a variety. All I can recommend is to sharpen your powers of observation, and use a 10x lens when examining coins.

Happy hunting!

1946 also has an arrowhead. From the short time I roll hunted the 6/6 seems common (I have found 3), but I have never found the arrowhead which I thought was the more common.
