So I'm walking out of Target with assorted household items and I remember it's been a while since I checked the Chase bank in the shopping center for halves. I whipped out the smart phone, looked up Chase branch phone numbers, and called them up. The helpful teller said, "yes, we have $20 worth of halves" so I said I'd be right over to pick them up. Five minutes later I'm walking out with a mismatched pair of rolls.

The yellow and white roll looks like a loser but the crooked, tape-sealed brown roll is interesting. Sure enough, the yellow roll has nothing but common clad junk. I opened the end of the brown roll and saw a bright, shiny 1967 silver-clad. I spilled the coins out and they were ALL bright shiny 1967's!

The coin at the other end was beautifully toned on the reverse:

Calls for some fruit!

I bank at Chase and I don't think that any of the tellers would ever let go of a customer-wrapped roll of halves, at least where I live. They are just too much "on top of it"!

What an awesome find. I have gone through a bunch of rolls and found nothing. Might occasionally get one 40%, but normally well used. Those are beautiful. I would keep them and not have the heart to turn them in for melt.

Nice score. Deserves a team dance

I had a similar experience over Christmas at Regions Bank. Bought $80 in customer rolled halves & got $30 in 40% and $2 in 1964 BU Kennedys.

I keep telling folks the real easy silver still comes from the tellers not the boxes.

Very sweet find! I put the half searching aside for awhile since there are a bunch of people in my area doing it. I have had pretty good luck with nickels right now.
