I have had this note for so long I cannot remember where it came from.

I am divesting myself of my bank notes as they hold no interest to me Sorry if that seems shallow but I could use the funds to buy a few more coins...

I know its a thick paper version if this helps but that is all I know. I see them selling on eBay for ridiculous money but not this date..
Any help would be appreciated.

This is VF. More of a low grade VF. Better that you mention those stains too if you intend to sell.

Thank you for the help So $150 would be a reasonable asking price?

Hmm, if I were you I would not settle for any lower than 150$ and I would not do any kind of "buy it now" or "pocket it". I'd go for a bidding type auction. There are none that I could find on eBay right now, so it is really hard to give you an idea of the current market value. All I could find was a 1944 note like yours, but in Uncirculated condition, the seller is asking USD1,299.00 for it. They seem pretty scarce. Good luck !

Not sure if this helps but found a few links:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...t_791wt_1396 (1945 five pound note)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl..._1545wt_1163 (1944 five pound note)

For a long time I wanted a White fiver, but when I seen the prices, I realised its out of my price range at the moment, since im trying to find 10 other notes first.

Thanks for the info I traded it with a fellow CCF member for a coin I have been after for quite some time. I think I got the better end of the deal but as long as we were both happy it was a good trade.

Did your note have a break in the security thread near where it said "I promise to pay"? Mine has a gap there... wonder if it's just my note.

Mine is a 1954 O'Brien.

I traded the note and it does not have a break in the security thread, neither does my 1956 O'Brien fiver

hmm... still trying to ask around to see if mine is an error just just a new security feature they put in. My mistake - it was a 1955 O'Brien, also with the Z prefix before they switched over the double letters.

Can anyone else who have a white note chime in? Wondering what I should do with it...

I have Beale 1949 white £5 and can tell you that this line runs all the way through it, also by 1955 the white fiver was near its end so I don't think that is anything deliberate.
