How to send coins for grading to the US valued well over $1000 without paying GST on return.
Any advice or experience on this?
This is not a purchase and the grading cost is below $1000.

We've never had an issue with it. Others have and it's a matter of filling in the correct Customs form if Customs decide to hold your package.

Customs will withhold the package if the declaration is over $1000. They'll send you a letter, you can free your package (after a small fee) by e-mailing the address on the letter with proof that you sent the coins out of the country (such as a consignment note).

Technically you are liable to pay GST on the certification if it exceeds $1000.

Establish that the coins are re-pats, and there shouldn't be a problem.

A copy of the outgoing customs form should do it.
