You can see larger pics of this coin in the old threads heiditan posted about it, here and here.

You can also see some of the comments some members made concerning authenticity.

I'm not entirely sure being in an NGC slab makes it all that more likely that it is authentic. It surprises me that they still slabbed it, given what appears to be a huge mount mark over on the left reverse. They wouldn't slab a modern coin with that kind of damage. Did they make any mention of the mount mark on the slab?

The "color" of your dealer does not make it authentic and I find it offensive, take your fakes and get out of here.

A couple of things don't make any sense with this in my opinion.

Firstly the declaration that it is real because it is slabbed... I didn't thing NGC were specialists in ancient coins so I am not sure that I would except it is real on that basis.

Secondly is if it is real then it seems a shame that it is now in a slab because to me putting something in a slab is like taking something beautiful and making it ugly. Maybe its personal preference but I don't find slabs a desirable storage option.

Third is thanking god for it...we are about 3000 years from when they first started making coins depicting the gods and yet after all we have learned the mind-set hasn't changed much...thanking and praising a more recently invented god for the possession of a token depicting an out of fashion god...I find it bizarre behaviour really as is thinking the race of the collector being Caucasian is relevant or the unwillingness to share the NGC number.

One of the problems with slabbed ancient coins is you cannot take them out of the slab for examination.

I feel certain that if this coin were to be submitted for sale at a major auction in London,
it would have been broken out of the slab for assessment.

I have never seen a slabbed ancient coin up for sale at a major London auction.

When ever I get the chance, I grab old copies of
Baldwin's auction catalogues, when ancient coins feature, because they are an excellent source of reference.

NGC have publicly acknowledged that their slabs have been counterfeited, and auction houses such as Baldwin's and Heritage also know this.

From the pictures, this coin looks quite OK to me.

When buying this sort of valuable ancient coin, it is essential that the seller can provide a highly respected third party opinion regarding the authenticity of it. There are huge stakes involved, both by the seller AND the buyer.
That is why MY opinion on this coin, by looking at the pictures only, is of very little value.
