A faux Chinese novelty "note" that nonetheless merits inclusion....

Then there's this Bulgarian 100 Leva note dating back to 1951, the model no less glamourized, albeit in a decidedly different manner.

I need to learn to speak German. Let's face it... "fünf" is just fun to say. Not to mention those 20+ character words.

Oh and clearly I need to add some German notes to my collection.

Nice note, DL20K.

Mexico and its various states have over the years issued many notes bearing the likenesses of women. This is one of the more fetching.

Some more Yugoslavian notes. Sorry for bad quality of the photos ... They were made a long time ago in a hurry.

I am hoping to write a ebook one day (perhaps when I am retired :) ) on the topic with a small bio/history on each woman.

You might consider getting started right now - it looks as though it could prove to be a very lengthy project!

Also, a mea culpa for my duplicate posting of the Mexican "La Gitana" note. I'll try to be more careful about that.

Now here's an education themed note from France, dating to 1955. As the high 10,000 Franc denomination implies, there were problems with the nation's monetary system at this point. With the advent of the Nouveaux Franc, it took 100 of the old Franc to convert to just one of the new. Thus a new series of banknotes with revised valuations were introduced starting in 1959.

Plus a few from Mali, which constitutes only a sample of all such issued in areas of Africa that were under French administration -
