i havent posted for a while but not that long ago you could find tons of fake superman coins on eBay...now its pretty cleaned up and thats a relief. I just bought a 2013 gold superman on eBay listed at the RCM original price of around 750.00......Im going to be quite happy if it turns out to be genuine! I gambled on the fact that there is no fake superman coins on eBay that I could find ......and the seller listed it with a realistic BIN for a quick sale......if it turns out to be fake then I'm pretty confident I will get my money back with eBay buyer protection.....but its still a gamble..Not many gold 2013 have sold in the past 2 months ..only one for 1978.00..ill keep you posted on the actual coin when I see it in hand....wish me luck!
Cassidy77 Your right, bobby is doing a good job getting the fakes weeded out. At one time there was 2or 3 a day listed, but now I can go days without seeing one.
If you want to post the 12 digit eBay ID no.,I can take a look and tell in 2 seconds if it is real or not. I usually look at the gold Superman coins daily and have not seen a fake one in a while. That low priced, you did good.
I havent rcvd the coin yet but the item no. is .... 232178746192 I couldnt really tell myself because the obverse image isn't very good..but I did determine that the scratch on the obverse image is on the plastic cover.............i dont think there is a box or coa!..You could say why didnt you just ask the seller? the short answer is that I couldnt resist the urge to jump on it! I was in the first 10 to look at it I think as it had only been listed for less than an hour and I was afraid that if it was genuine someone else would get it..thats about it really.... I will soon be able to say if it is authentic or not....anyways at 27mm and 12 grams non magnetic it should be fairly easy to tell..AGW for this coin is 6.99 grams
Sorry to say Cassidy- It's a counterfeit, as are all his other Superman coins. I was suspicious when you said it was only $750.00 and not getting a box or COA. I don't know how I missed this but I see it was hidden under Commemorative Coins instead of Superman Coins. At least we should be able to get the rest removed as I will be putting the listings on the Counterfeiting Thread.
Thanks for your good work I will keep you posted when I receive the coin..I had a feeling it was too good to be true..What are the main points which convinced you they are fake?..The images are kind of fuzzy..i noticed that the edges were hard to see but I convinced myself that they were serrated or milled because the fakes have smooth edges right?.....It used to be that the Canada commemm section was loaded with fakes.....well I should be getting this coin very soon so I will report the facts after I receive this coin....
