Based on the facts/circumstances she described in which he was caught rummaging through her stuff several years ago before my grandfather died, she believes my cousin probably did it. Knowing his character, I don't find it hard to believe he is the one responsible.
Unfortunately, she just didn't put all the facts together and discover the crime until now, after the statute of limitations has already expired.
I haven't associated with him in years. I have no idea where he is now. Knowing my grandmother, I doubt she will try to find him and confront him about it, but you can bet your bottom dollar he won't be welcome at her house again so he can help himself to the rest of her collection.
It just ticks me off that he would take advantage of her like that, because as jbuck suggested, she would have helped him if only he would have asked.
She had put those Krugerrands (among many others) away with the plan that she could sell them off a little at a time when needed in her later years of life. Now they aren't there when she needs them the most.
