This is the problem with delivery confirmation. All it does is confirms that it was delivered SOMEWHERE. But there is no way to know if it was delivered to the correct address. And I wouldn't say yet that the mail carrier LIED, she may have very well "put it in the box", it just wasn't your box. The delivery time may help to track it down. You just need to know exactly what time she started the route and where she was in the route at that time. That should narrow it down to just a few streets and then you just have to go door to door and ask each person if they got your package. Of course that may not work for two reasons. One the people may not be honest, and two if it is like my town the mail carrier scans all the items that need scanning except for the registered mail before they start their routes. In that case the "delivery" time bears no relationship to the time it was actually shoved into a box someplace.

Hi,
I know how frustrating that this is to you. If the box will not fit into your mailbox,
I noticed that just down below the senders address on the box sticker it has
Carrier leave if no Response
Return Service Requested

the key to your problem more than likely is the carrier and the hand held scanner reading.

Hope for the best....

Sam

I just remember an incident that happened to me. they delivered my mail to the correct house number, but, it was on the wrong avenue. The person was honest and brought mine to me, but also said that he wouldn't do it again, it's the post offices problem he said, and he'll send it back. maybe if you checked same address just 1 block over in each direction on a different street or avenue. maybe this will help..... best luck Sam

By now you should have knocked on every neighbors door asking about your package.
You should also have gone to the Post Office and filed a complaint.

Perhaps there are delivery times on the route that the mail delivery person has scanned other packages that would prove that she was not near your home when it was delivered.
Pretty much these people run close on time every day.

Maybe the mail truck is way down the street at this time normally. I would find out where the truck is at 2:53 PM everyday and check those places out, also see if the carrier had delivered a package before yours and after yours still down the street on that day before and after your time.

These box's are all the same for the mint sets, proof sets, Westward journey nickel rolls, etc, I hope your problem has a happy ending, also mentioned before, I know the post office I go to, scans all the needed packages before they leave the post office, to show it got that far, so I do not think all p o 's are all the same and hope yours is different in that the postal worker did deliver the package, just not to your door.

I would ask( if it goes this far) for the postal worker to show you exactly where she placed the package, good luck, Mike..

We never received a small box of a five year olds birthday gifts from her grandpa..... and it showed it was delivered too.
We wondered if there weren't "mailbox thieves" in our new neighborhood. Teenagers who couldn't care less what is actually "in" the box.....they just want to steal it to look inside and see. Basically meaning..... it might not matter at all whether or not the outside of the box hints at "coins" being inside.
Hope that didn't happen here. Best of luck.

I got myself a post office box for my valuable parcels. I have mailbox across the street for regular mail and I don't feel comfortable having valuables left in there. Often times the snow plows knock the boxes over. Its a WISE investment.

The package is gone! From last conversation, the boss lady would write a report to the management and call me about the result. I was on a business trip from last Tuesday to Friday. I will call in Monday. Most likely she stole it or lost it. I would feel bad if she get fired in this economy but not too bad. Afterall I never lost a package before. If she still keep her job, I will insist that she be re-routed.

Some people steal for profit(Bernard Madoff), other steal for thrill(Winona Ryder). A postal worker can steal for either or both reasons. I don't believe a few here said that she would never steal to risk a stable job. Stable job also means no excitement, no thrill.

Looks like I have to buy one from ebay.

Oh dear. That's really bad news.

Looking back, what is really fishy is the fact that your postal delivery person said she stuffed the package in the box- when apparently your mailbox dimensions would not allow it. That right there is a contradiction I would pursue.

It's certainly possible that the postal worker stole your coins. It's also possible that she put them in the wrong box, or that someone took them out of the box when they were delivered.

I suppose that the end result is the same whether the loss is a result of theft, incompetence, or an honest mistake, but I'd hate to find out later I caused someone to lose their job when they were innocent of wrongdoing.

That really sucks that you did not get your coins. I hope you can get a good deal on E bay.

If the lady stole your coins .. IMO .. she should lose her job. But also if she is unable to deliver mail do the right address .. then she should not be doing that job either. I could almost understand getting a letter in the wrong box .. once in a while .. but to me .. a box/package is special. It is most time in a separate place on the truck and it seems like the mail person would make a final check of the address on the package before putting it into the box .. and if they have to scan it as delivered right there .. I guess I am saying I know I would make the extra effort to get a package in the right box. She should lose her job.
