First and Foremost, welcome to the community!

I think my next questions would be; is the Kuwaiti Central Bank similar to the Federal Reserve Banks in the US? Also, is the Kuwaiti Central Bank responsible for the minting of Kuwaiti Coinage?

I have both the 1987 and 2008 silver sets plus all the commeneratives issued by the CBK. I wish I had all the gold ones too. A bit pricey for me though.

Hi all - hope you don't mind me resurrecting this thread, but I found it whilst researching a set of coins that we'd had donated and therefore joined the forum.

It seems that we have been donated this ultra rare 1987 set of silver Kuwaiti fils - and have only realised its value through this forum and the only other set we've been able to find on eBay, which was up for sale in the US for $699.

Is it actually worth this amount of money, or was that rather optimistic? We are a UK charity, raising as much as we can to help the elderly in our community and would very much like to realize its true value for that reason. We will be listing it on eBay very soon, with worldwide shipping - can anyone give us any more info or advice on this?

Now that I've found the forum, I hope to be able to ask advice about other donations and give people here the heads up on anything interesting we may have.

Thanks

I just checked the World coins catalog 1901 -2000 38th edition There are two 1987 proof sets one valued at US$675 and the other US$2850.00. Some one else may be able to tell you how to work out which one you have. Given that you are a charity and are based in the UK I would suggest you contact Spink (http://www.spink.com/departments.aspx?id=1204) they may assist you with selling it. Note You might only expect to get 75% of the catalog value. I think a company like Spinks may well be a better bet than eBay ( Given your organizations charitable status I would hope that company would waive any charges to you). Ring them and ask They can only say no

Many thanks for that - will give it a try. I saw that a previous poster on here had sold a set for over $2000 - I presumed that was a gold set, but if there's a chance that this one may be worth that, then I think I may be in very good books at work!

I'd be really grateful if anyone else on here knows which is which - or would like to offer $2k for it!
