Twenty-five years ago, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a commemorative silver dollar (SD) that marked the 25th anniversary of the legendary 1972 Canada-Russia hockey match. Now, 50 years after the match, it seems like a good time to have another look at Canada's SD. (BTW: If you didn't already guess, Canada won the match.) 1997 Canada-Russia Hockey Summit Silver Dollar If you'd like to dig into the details of this coin and its various special packaging options, check out: - Index To Silver Dollar Packaging Posts

I posted this coin already in a "recent acquisitions" topic, but thought I'd share here, as well. This is my latest addition to my commemorative collection, an upgrade of my PCGS MS64 Antietam to a PCGS MS66 CAC example. The color is fairly accurate; the label on this old holder is almost yellow in color...

This must rank as one of the weirdest subjects ever for a commemorative coin - the centenary of the Australian Taxation Office. But, of course, we all love paying tax...

@NumisRob: I remember, when that 20-cent coin was first released, thinking how odd it was to commemorate that particular Government function.
The design certainly isn't much to look at - IMO!
