Today's coin is the 1876 Indian Head cent. This was the last year before the key date of 1877.

Thanks all, I found 7 of the 13 missing one on the retailers I usually buy from. If they are still available I will buy when I have the money saved up but 4 of the 7 require from 2 to 3 pay periods of saving, so after the next 3, this will slow down.

Happy Friday, in terms of good news another IHC has been ordered and shipped!! And I worked out a deal for another missing one (hoping in 2 weeks time to order that one). Only 12 more to go :) BTW, anyone every notice that hopeing is not a word but hoping is and so is hopping, I got confused a little today

Today's coin is an 1866. While the 1866 had a high mintage relative to the early years, as these were recalled in 1871,resulting in many of the 1866 to 1870 IHC being melted, coupled with whizzing in 1960, not many survived unscathed. Per Rick Snow's book the optimal circulation grade is VF 20, with higher grade costs going up exponentially. This was a good priced pick with pretty nice eye appeal to me and makes a nice addition to my set.
