I have basically researched this quarter and can not find where there has been any legitimate reports of errors on this quarter.
We received a bag of the 2009 P NMIsland Quarters when the US MInt started selling them. My twin brother (recently deceased), called me to see something wierd. He said, "WOW! This quarter has a dang "coconut" hanging in the tree!" Sure enough, there it was.... a fairly large coconut hanging in the palm tree.
My brother was the one that got excited about things like this and I was the one that was a bit reserved, so he sent the coin to have it graded (we always handled coins received with cotton gloves).
The coin returned at MS 67, die chips & die cracks and boy was he excited about his dang "coconut".
Not long after the coconut excitement, he started getting sick with hospital stays and out of state doctor visits.
I just recently found his coins that he teasured and one was his infamous "Coconut Quarter".
So I am now going to post a few pictures of this quarter for an honest opinion as to the error/die chips/die cracks.
Does this so called "coconut" qualify as an error or what. Please, I'm looking for real opinions.
Either way this turns out, to me this quarter will always be his "Coconut Quarter" (lol)
Thank you all for any positive or negative input.
