Hello,

I came across this coin today, which I believe to be an authentic specimen and have identified as a 150th anniversary of the naval school Chilean 5 peso silver commemorative.

As I try to understand commemoratives, owning only one other which I posted on another thread, I was shocked to see the listed and sold prices of this coin. I know the mintage is low (1200) but demand can't be that high. Can someone give me a primer or at least a few sentences on what appears to be the high premiums on these type coins?

Not so much "no interest", as "we have no idea what the answer might be to your question". It catalogues at just $50, which would be typical for a low-demand, low-mintage world silver proof coin.

Maybe just part of the general COVID-craziness with coin prices at the moment?
