Last week I sent off a batch of coins to GreatCollections for the first time. Recently, I came to the realization that I was going off onto too many tangents, especially since starting my currency collections, and so I decided to sell my U.S. gold type collection. Well, except for my Saint-Gaudens double eagles, which I truly love and will be with me until I'm pushing up daisies . I'm also selling my complete set of gold $1 and $2-1/2 U.S. classic commemoratives. 37 PCGS/NGC coins in all, most MS61-65. Other than the Saints, I've not done anything with my type gold or gold commems in the last 5 years, which was also an indicator that these sets had run their course with me. Normally, on the rare occasions I sell a bunch of upgraded coins or a set of coins I've lost interest in, I go through dealers I've had a long relationship with. However, with the market for gold coins being a bit hotter at the moment, I thought I might do better through GreatCollections than taking a below-wholesale offer from a dealer. I'll see how that works out! Once the items come up for auction, I'll post in the appropriate area of the forum in case any fellow forum members want to take a look.

I'm hoping that you do well on the coins. I've had a similar experience with Great Collections and it worked out really well for me. I had several complete PCGS sets that I had just lost interest in and did the same as you and sent them to Great Collections one set at a time and I was 100% pleased with their services. These were $10K+ sets (#6 Registry Full Steps War Nickels, complete Peace dollar MS/CAC, etc) and Great Collections gave me the confidence to trust them. I expect you'll have a similar experience - best of wishes to you.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.artToo many hobbies .... too much work .... not enough time.

Thanks for the comments. I've heard good things about GC and Ian Russell in particular, but to this point I'd only participated in GC auctions as a buyer. As I was preparing the shipment, I had an email conversation with Ian and he was very helpful in providing the information I needed.
Hopefully the coins will be listed in the next week or so!

Best of luck! I've never sold through them either, will likely in the future though. Bought way too many times from them and have always had great experiences. Best communication from an auction house as well. Ian really has done a great job with GC.
