I could use some identification help on why this coin edges are as shown. The Reed count is 99 reeds. 1952-D Jefferson nickel.

My guess is a former Encased Coin. Make sure to flatten those staples

Just a face value coin. It is now a cull. If you have a coin like this in the encasement, leave it there. Removing it just shows a damaged coin.
