1987-D Lincoln Cent DDD And RPM? Or Just DDD?

Cointree New Member United States 35 Posts	Posted 05/21/2022 4:57 pm I see what looks like Die Deterioration in the date and also I think in the D mintmark. But the D almost looks more like a large D over a smaller D. Any ideas what I am seeing here? Report this Post to the Staff

One the mintmark, I think that the underlying zinc has started to deteriorate. That could be mostly DDD rather than split plate doubling, although the sunken area around the mm definitely means to me that there was a break in the copper plating.
