What happened to this nickel? You can't see the first three letters of Monticello on the reverse.

Kinda looks like it was once buried in acidic soil. Might also be a worn die issue or minor Struck Through Grease?

Weight will reveal it if is under weight. If less than 5 grams it may have been in acid for a short time, or in a soda for a longer time.
