Just something odd on the reverse side of the dime around the edges, unsure of what is going on. New to this and unsure of what I should look for.

Given the images posted, looks like post-strike damage to me.

Damage.
There is no way for that to happen when the coin was struck.

Damage causes incuse mark into to a coin, or a flattening of raised devices. On your coin, the rim was flattened by damage to the coin. Damage ruins collector interest in a coin. So it is just a spender. Put it back to work.
