I have found that unlike most of the things that I collect, maintaining my Coin Collection is very easy

By "Maintaining", I mean adding new commemorative releases and older type coins to my sets

Due to "life", I can't always pay attention to the market, but once I get the bug, I find that I can catch up pretty quick

A benefit of this approach appears to be that I don't really pay more of a premium by waiting, it seems trying to get the newest releases commands the highest premiums

I did very well on my silver proof quarters and all of my Sac dollars but I had to have all of the newer Reverse Proofs and I was willing to pay more to get them now

I missed the boat on the 2121 Morgan/ Peace dollars but it looks like they are coming down in price

Currently, I am mostly caught up on my commemoratives sets, just have a few halfs and dollars to get.

I'll still hit the shops once in a while to find circulated coins for my type set but the rest of the binders will go back into hibernation till next year when the 2023 proof sets come out

So "catching up" for me is both fulfilling and kind of disappointing at the same time

Anyone else feel this way?

Boba I hope you never truly catch up because the hunt is one of enjoyable avenues of collecting. Completion of a set can lead to loss of interest over time. Likewise interests change, and with that your collection quite possible will as well. I move from area to area in the hobby and it keeps it fresh and enjoyable to me. The more you look the bigger the hobby gets. Enjoy what you have and share with others when possible. Nothing beats when someone shows you something new about an item you already have. Just coming on here and reading recharges my interest in the hobby. I hope it does for you as well.

For me, maintenance is always on-going. ever searching for the forgotten variety and keeping up to date with my modern collections (which I an so far on my cent to dollar OGP and Dansco albums) The other part of Maintenance is DOCUMENTATION of which I am terrible with. I'm trying to get all my coins photographed and all my purchase receipts organized and scanned into PDF files (of which I have a 2 inch pile of receipts to scan. THEN I need to update all my Excel sheets with the info of those receipts. Work, Work, Work.. and fun too as I get to revisit my new purchases again.
