Well I've done it now! I just found A 1972 S Lincoln cent I can't properly identify (surprise, my usual problem). I thought "boy I found a proof" but much to my chagrin I realized that the fields weren't dark like A proof should be. When I looked on line I found one on Ebay that had the appearance of my coin, but the seller claimed it was a DDO, but my coin shows no doubling of the script, so no such luck. The surface appears plated and the coin was a bear to photograph because it is very bright, so did my best. Looking for help to clear up the issue of identifying this unusual strike of this coin. Regards and have fun looking it this pretty penny.
I'm not convinced it's a business strike (yet...). Obverse photos appear to show a rim with rather 'squared-off' characteristics--like a proof. We may have an impaired proof here. Maybe. Would like to see the coin in-hand.
