I attended my first actual show (that wasn't shutting down as I arrived) last week and thanks to my budget was picking around the SALE boxes. I found this little British coin and though it is tarnished, it appealed to my fondness of miniatures.

BUT, what did I actually BUY? I know it is from 1917 and has some silver content, but what is it 3 of?

AHA, gotchya!

The British threepence piece, usually simply known as a threepence, thruppence, or thruppenny bit, was a denomination of sterling coinage worth 1/80 of one pound or 1/4 of one shilling.

By the end of George V's reign the threepence had become unpopular in England because of its small size

It is pretty tiny for a normal everyday coin!
