Hi! I inherited some coins that are in flat rectangular cases. (With just the name of the coin, no ranking/categorizing/rating/whatever it's called!) I want to post them on ebay, but hard to shoot them clearly in the cases. Is it ok to take them out so I can get clear photos? They're 1923 Peace dollars. Thank you for any help!

@iba, first welcome to CCF. Second, it sounds like the coins are in "slabs", but just generic ones as opposed to ones from a grading company. A pic would help to confirm this. Can you please post one example? Thx.

Pictures needed to accurately identify holder, and see if they can be removed easily.

If they look something like this...

then you can carefully pull them apart and take out the coin if needed.

Yes, take them out and hold then by the edges. Photograph on a non-metallic surface for safety. Good luck!

Try taking photos before taking coins out of holders.

Your post was moved to the appropriate forum for the proper attention.

Those cases are probably not sealed. Look for a seam along the edge. If you can open them, you can remove the coins for better photos.

Those are pretty nifty holders, I like them. I would remove them from the holders, if possible, then add pictures of the coins in the holders and include those in the sale.
