with John1 on cropping and rotating images 100%.
and yes the toning is normal - the more shiny parts were probably covered to protect it, while the darker areas were exposed to the environment.

Normal in the sense that our coins are exposed to all sorts of chemicals and environments, some of which cause surface toning.
