1916 UK Coin Error (Mint Or Damaged)?

I have a 1916 UK Penny with a visible error, however I am uncertain if this is during or after minting (man-made damage). I would be very grateful to receive opinions and identify possible reasons for the coin's appearance. I am in hopes the pictures are suitable, sorry for the poor quality! Thank you in advance! ttkoo Pillar of the Community Australia 676 Posts	Posted 09/26/2022 04:26 am A pic of the rim would be helpful, the reverse looks like a planchet flaw and makes the coin look hollow, and the obverse looks like PMD and flaw combined. NumisRob Bedrock of the Community United Kingdom 11524 Posts	Posted 09/26/2022 06:06 am I do agree that the reverse looks like a planchet flaw but what surprises me is that the penny survived so long in circulation - that is the kind of wear I would expect from a typical early George V penny still circulating just before Decimalisation in 1971. Maybe the planchet had an air bubble in it and the coin looked normal when it was struck but the bubble was punctured when it wore down?
