Not in my wheelhouse but that is a nice crescent moon cent.
I will let the more knowledgeable speak to this.

That's quite a bite, Believe7 - very impressive!

Could be wrong, but this does not look legit to me. The lack of any distortion on devices near the "clip" plus the really normal circle shape of the 'clip' make me wonder. Devices near a clip tend to be at least a little distorted and large clips are usually a bit wavy as the strike on the fields and devices push metal in different ways. A pic of the edge along the clip would help.

Looks like there is some metal movement evident along the clip to me. I agree this doesn't look right and may be PMD.

The first and third images are fairly clear.

It would be nice to get those two with the light coming from the opposite direction. IMHO, there does seem to be some metal distortion along the curve.
But as others have said, with a clip of this proportion we would normally see more pronounced distortion.

A clear image of where the rim and the curve meet might have more clues as well.

Can you show the side of the clip? This will talk about. Sound like fishy this clip. I want to see the side seem to be angled.

Thank you for showing us this. I agree, it doesn't look legit. My guess it was probably done intentionally by someone using a bench grinder.

Sorry to tell you but it is not legitim clip. was cut after strike.

Keep for your own example but next time do not use metal plyers, if was legitim coin you will damaged.

The devices don't fall off the edge like they would on a clip. They are to crisp.

@silviosi...for your info, I use metal plyers when I'm working on a project on my house or on my car.
You have no idea how I acquired this coin, so I find it very offensive for you to insinuate
any wrong doing on my part.
I don't need to impress you or any other on this forum for kudos or insults.
Be carefull with your words.

I'm sure Silviosi meant only the best. The pliers are made of a harder metal than the coin and could easily damage it.
As for the coin I feel it is a legitimate clip.
In the enlargements I am posting I have circled what looks to be evidence of weakening of the rim that I call my Smith effect .
In your photo of the edge I have circled a ridge in the metal that I would expect to see in the edge of a legitimate clip.
Also , a clip of this size will often not exibit weakened devices at the edge of the clip , nor will it show a Blakesly effect.
