Simple question. Do someone see one of the 40 struck 20$ 1883 coin. I do not find any record of them As I do not find for one of the 75 Nurse medal 1925 in bronze.
Thanks. Edited by silviosi 01/30/2023 02:30 am

NGC and PCGS both say the mintage was actually 92. Earlier they thought only the 40 struck for proof sets, but another 52 were struck individually. If you're looking for a visual record of them, there are about a dozen in Heritage archives, some may be the same coins sold more than once. 20-25 thought to survive.

No it is not certify. Good price. Past the metallic, weight, diameter and thickness. I compare the coin design with some photos from Mint find and I do not see been an replica.. The gold it is 899.8 which it is in the parameters according with the Mint report. I ask you the bests of those coins because come to me unexpected and 150K is not an pocket change. Me I think it is an 62 max 63 (I am very conservative on grading). Sorry no photos for moment but I look forward because not every corners can made you has a rarity and also a beauty.

A PR62 sold in 2015 for USD$70500. A PR53 sold in 2019 for USD$87000. I would insist on authentication from a TPG before even thinking about spending that kind of money. Nothing scares me more than someone saying "good price", especially for a rarity like this one. What could possibly motivate someone to sell it raw directly to you, rather than submit it to a reputable auction house, where they would submit it for grading, probably waive the seller fees, and get the best attention and price for the seller?

Ah yes, I see the confusion @Dearborn as proofs are typically uncirculated. In this specific case according to the description, this 1883 proof survived a short stay in circulation, perhaps spent by its owner during the hard financial times of the early 1890s. A few small marks on the portrait and light high-point wear is apparent in-hand, while a loupe reveals scattered field chatter and a few minor pinscratches. So in those cases the grade can be AU and below.

Quote: Nope. PR53. Actually on the holder it says PF53. I don't think it makes much difference though.

NGC uses PF, others use PR, Heritage calls it PR53 so that's what I used. Regardless, it's an impaired proof, pretty unusual considering the rarity. Now back to the OP - are you really going to gamble ~$100k on a raw coin? Interested to see how this works out.

Ah, ok thanks for the clarification.. I guess you can see my confusion when there was no mention of it being circulated and no image provided. (just not used to circulated proofs, I guess)

Thank you all. I learn a lot about this coin here from you and also so cleaver ideas. I will gamble as someone say this 115K US (150K CAN). My opinion it is at least PR62 semi CAM (after I receive the grading points for those from ANACS). I will take and hope him to sell me also one of the two CAN 500$ bill from 1935 series. I will loose?. maybe, but if I pass this and later I will regret will be worst. So I will go for and I promise to post here the result from grader. Will be long because I do not plan to come in State before June. I like those old nice designs, but hard to have 'it now. Tank you all, Good bless us and You. PS: I didn't post the photo just for purpose of security)
