Quote: I think that cameras are allowed....I'm putting my camera in my purse and I'll ask if he'll let me take photos for this website when I go back. that would be pretty cool if you can. No worries if you aren't able to though. Enjoy your time there Buddy. -MV

I would say since a policeman took this picture of me holding $700,000 worth of gold that cameras are allowed....

Kevin lifted that bar of gold yesterday. I couldn't make it budge at all. Still, it's fun to try -- heck, it's fun to touch a gold bar that size! I miss seeing you and Mom at the show. That sure made last year's show extra special for me.

Here are some photos I took at the show today. The line for gold Kennedy halves, at about 8:00 a.m., began just outside the convention hall and stretched outside and around the corner: Some of the folks waiting to buy a gold Kennedy (one guy told me there were 17 people in his "crew"): At the Museum Showcase, the 1922 matte-proof, high-relief Peace dollar: At the Museum Showcase, the Brasher Doubloon: "We're buying Kennedys!" Employees of the United States Mint do an inspirational team cheer before the exhibits open to the public: "Hurrah!"

I'm about to head out for the evening but I still don't know where to find twohawks.
Anybody want to try to meet up on Thursday? I'll check this thread before I go to bed tonight.

Man did I have a blast today... probably got about 2/3 through the bourse since dealers like Heritage and S-B are just showing not selling. Dinner [flipt] and some research before bed.
Hit NGS before the Kennedy hoards arrived - nice people to deal with. The rep agreed my 3cs 1852 isn't bent - it's PIDT, so it's going back for review. Gave NCS my s/l half - I'm worried about several green spots, so we'll see. Staff was definitely frazzled. They are worried about whether the graders "can get through all this [show special grading]" - today's batch didn't arrive by 10am as expected.
Talked to ANACS about my wooden round to it. After my email [sorry I didn't own up that I sent it :-)] he has asked around, but nobody will own up to having made them... we did agree that strange things have been known to happen at 5pm on Fridays... but it doesn't sound like these were properly made for a customer... my own version of golden $ w/o edge lettering.

I wouldn't go to this show. Way, way to expensive for me. Bad enough parking is about $12 or more but also have to pay to get in. All dealers have to pay from about $500 to several thousand for a table so their prices on coins have been jacked up to cover that. Hotels in the area are also excessive so dealers that stay there have to add that to the prices of coins. Then too dealers have to pay Rosemonts excessive food prices if they stay in the area. Sad thing about this is I live about 3 or 4 miles from that place and no place to park and to far to walk. I went there a long time ago and was shocked at the prices. And there are so many other coin shows in the area that are free parking, free to get in, less cost for coins and at one free donuts and coffee. And that one is the Sunday right after this Rosemont show.

Really? Guess it's where you sit. Admission is $6 and there is a $2 coupon available. The El costs 2.25 each way and PACE bis stops at the door...

CCF members, you can find twohawks at table 1506.
I just happened to see the CCF banner as I was going walking by...twohawks said that has not been able to log on since he got to the show. That's got to be frustrating.
Anyway, there's still two days left so stop by and say 'hello'. He's got some really cool stuff there. He showed us (my husband was with me) coins that I'd never heard about and shared some very interesting stories that went along with those coins.
So I went again today, my third day, had fun, spent money and ...maybe I'll go back...but I'm TIRED.

I went to the show last Friday - I am local so it cost $13 to park but am an ANA member so getting in was no cost. I walked the entire show, not spending too much time anywhere but then again, I am a foreign collector therefore not that many tables have what I am searching for. Yet the tables that I did stop at, the prices seemed high, I think that's because of the cost of the show and to recover their expenses and makes some money too. Of course they all act like they are giving you a super deal. All in all a very nice trip. I will say that if you can arrange to be a helper to the ANA during the show (through your coin club or contact ANA), they give you free parking, entrance to the show and a nice shirt that you can keep besides meeting and talking with so many people that share your hobby interest.
