a tad weak in strike for an 85(CC). luster looks good across both sides but may be compromised on the cheek. imo there are enough mark, ticks and rub on both sides to hold it short of 65. MS64+

I'd say MS-65. I can't give it a higher grade just because of the marks/nicks on the neck of Lady Liberty. It is a beauty though.

This is probably the nicest one that youve recently posted, very good shot at a 65.

The fields are fantastic on this one. Add me to the MS-65 parade. It looks like 1885-CC VAM-3.

Thanks guys, and thanks Fortcollins for the VAM info.

Worth paying to have it attributed on VAM coins in your experiences?

I think there are enough small hits on the cheek and cap to hold it down from gem status. Pretty solid for MS-64.

@KYCopperCoins, VAM-3 is common. It doesn't bring a premium. I wouldn't pay for attribution unless a VAM draws solid collector interest. I just put stickers on my slabs with the VAM number and record the VAM on the back of my 2x2s. VAM collectors will verify when they buy the coin.

That's a really nice coin.

Subdued luster, kinda flat in places. 85-CC's come nice with lots of frosted devices and cartwheel luster. this one does not show that. Probably TPG'd as MS65. Technically a MS64.
