Pretty darn cool! -ijn1944

I'll say! Made me a happy camper! That 1925-S in the picture grades a full extra fine (full wheat ears) - a $15 coin!(note: the reverses of wheaties with full wheat ears are very hard to photograph, in case you didn't know)...

That was truly a stroke of good luck.-Blind Squirrel

Yes, it was... and for me to have it TWICE in the same day? Well, maybe I should've bought a lottery ticket!

Thanks, guys!

As I told one of the tellers "it's about being in the right place at the right time" and also being persistent... The set of BU 2009-Ps goes for about $20 + shipping on eBay. I'll call that one an early Christmas present to me since it's a set I've wanted ever since I started getting back into CRH 5 1/2 years ago.

Nice pick up there on the 2009's. Wonder how long that was sitting at that branch. Wish I could get some rolls from my bank. Finally have a bank with a free coin counter to dump at, and I can't get any change.

I got a roll of cents from a bank in Boston on December 20. I don't usually get rolls of cents, but I wanted some copper ones to roll in penny machines as the zinc type go all streaky and brittle when you elongate them.

In the end I never needed them, and I brought the roll back to the UK unopened.

I've just looked through it and have upgraded several of the coins in my collection. There were 14 copper cents of which the oldest was a 1964D in about EF with traces of mint lustre in the lettering. There were 1976, 1979 and 1981 pennies with almost full mint lustre, but after the 1981 the next oldest coin in decent condition was a 2008. Nothing particularly exciting but at least I've got a few more coppers to squash next time I go to the States!

NumisRob -- And 500 years from now when archeologists are excavating your neighborhood, they'll marvel at finding US coinage buried in the rubble of a long lost town.

I doubt if any Zincolns will survive that long!

Congrats on that one, tencentpenny! That one's been on my CRH bucket list for my entire lifetime and it still eludes me. I have found a couple of 1970-S small dates though.

Are you positive it's a small date? I've never found one and I know some very prominent searchers that have not either.

If it is, well:

WOW! Pretty low mintage, I've never found one. Definitely one of the harder coins to find in circ.

That's just as amazing as the 17-D because those typically came out of mint sets.
