First quarter update (in red) on these cut-and-pasted goals:

1. Add any early dated coins (for me 1474-1506) I can find that fit my existing themes. I am missing 1483, 1486-88, 1491,1497,1506 most of which will be difficult, or may never get filled (except 1506 where there is a clear target). I nabbed a 1506 even though it's not the one I wanted, and an undated but attributable 1471...by accident.
2. Fill the missing 17th century dates in my Kingdom of Poland OFEY (1656, 1657, 1659, 1679) two of these preferably with larger silver (1/4 thaler)from Torun and Gdansk mints. Have acquired the 1656, 1659 and 1679, and been skunked twice already on 1657. However, I've been able add some missing dates in the 18th c., mostly 1765-95.
3. Fill a handful of other gaps in the 1600s (1639, 1641, 1642, 1692, 1695) with coins that fit my other themes.
(Edit: I just took care of 1642) ...and 1692.

I actually can't post my progress yet, because I slacked off on adding my coins to Numista (though it didn't help that a lot of them were ancients, which are somewhat tricky to add to Numista in the first place).

I'll probably do some emergency (desk-tidying-up and) Numista-adding, then post the corrected progress after that.

IIRC, I added some missing dates in the 1730s and 1740s, but not as many post-1750.

My short term goals are to finish the dime and half dime series (still need nice circulation cameo 1860's coins) and make a start with early copper.

Scratch that. I no longer work on a 19th Century Type Set.
My prime goal for this year is to finish my USA 20th and 21st Century Type Set.
Additionally, I hope to be able to buy some nice French 20 Franc gold coins for a good price to add to that collection.
I am also still looking for a Willem I gulden in high AU grade.

Q1 Progress Report

Quote:
1. Fill the last six core Dansco album holes (7000-3, 7070-1, 8100-2)
2. Finish the extended part of the PCGS Ike set (2013-P Proof, 2015 P/D/S-PR/S-RP)
3. Buy whatever appeals to me from 2021 US Mint offerings.

One coin so far this year. Could be worse.

Preliminary three-month update...

1) Get some more missing dates for my OFEY
1a) In particular, fill in the remaining post-1750 holes (2021, 1844, 1823, 1817, 1795, 1783, 1781, 1780 [aside from the MTT], 1778, 1769, 1766, 1756, 1755, 1752) Added 2021, 1817, apparently no others yet?
1b) If possible, get an unbroken line even further back Haha nope... but did add some pre-1750 dates too
1c) Regardless of any actual progress, take photos of all of those coins for posting on CCF (haha good luck) Ditto, and since then I found out that my smartphone is running out of photo storage memory

2) Related to the above: get some dated Islamic coins from the 15th century AD No new ones in 2021 yet
2a) Non-Islamic dated (and/or single-year-type) coins from the 15th century AD would be welcome, but unlikely to fit within my budget None, as expected
2b) Dated coins from before the 15th century are useful as well, though I already have a bunch of those Only ancients so far

3) Get to 400 issuers on Numista (currently 377)... if that's still a thing by the time I get there 386, though I probably got a few of them via the ongoing German notgeld reorganization
3a) If possible, also get to 250 countries (currently 239) 240

4) Fill some of the remaining holes in my Dansco 7070 album yes, though some of the coins aren't in the album yet, IIRC
4a) In particular, get at least one classic commemorative, and at least one Seated Liberty silver yes for both

5) Get at least one more coin for my Romanian type set attempt nope
5a) If I can find some Mongolian coins I didn't have yet, that would be cool as well yup, 5 mongo 1925

6) Formalize my USSR non-commemorative type set progress, figure out what (if anything) I'm still missing, and get it (...discounting the gold, which is out of my budget, and probably never circulated anyway) Project for later, I guess

7) Formalize my Russian Empire AE type set, and fill at least some of the holes See above

8) If my interest in those coins doesn't stop, formalize my 18th/19th century Swedish AE type set attempt, and fill at least some of the holes Hahahaha... though now that I've been reminded, I agree that it would be an interesting project

I'm looking to keep filling out my AA run. Two books I'd particularly like to pickup in high grade this year are All-American Men of War 9 and Hero for Hire 1. If I also manage to snag some cool PCH along the way, all the better.

I'm also in the process of transitioning all my poly bag books into mylites and snapping pictures of them as I go. Not sure I'll finish this in 21, but I'd like to make a dent.

My collecting goal is as it has always been for the last 40 years:-
to collect interesting coins at the most advantageous price, covering all of numismatic history over the last 2,500 years My collection numbers about 2,500 items, but
about 2,000 of those cover the period of the last 150 years.

Status Update as of 3/31/2021

My 2021 goals are actually simple.

1) I want to do a slabbed 7070 (no gold collection)
2) complete the slabbed IHC collection

For the 7070, I was at missing 20 coins, but NGC added 2 more, and while I had 1 I don't have a 2021 Washington Crossing the Delaware and won't have one till the Silver Proofs are out so I'm at 21 coins to go.

For the IHC/Flying Eagle I only picked up a Flying Eagle that worked for both sets. I sadly neglected the IHC, but once the 7070 is done, I'll try to get back.

I also have 2 fractionals currency that I am missing and 3 large notes, so after the 7070 I may come back to the notes.

I've honestly only been picking up what is a good price, sadly stuff lately is way over the green book/retail price.

2020 has been such a good year, but already the following appeal to me.

1. Completing UK halfcrowns so I have at least one coin of every date back to 1816 (Now have back to 1896)

2. Getting a halfcrown of George I, William and Mary and James I and even Elizabeth I if possible (James II fell into my lap recently)

3. UK Florins - all back to at least 1875 (So far most back to 1887 and complete 1970 back to 1914)

4. Australian Florins complete except 1932

Only April, but an update so far

1. Not quite complete yet, but the Andy G update plus a couple of new coins bought in have seen 21 more dates added and mostly complete from 1842 onwards (80% of dates complete and 97% of common dates). Halfcrowns are reaching that near completion stage and unique coins for my collection are elusive - upgrades have occurred.

2. No progress here as these are hard rulers, not through lack of trying. The one bright spot was the early George II coin of 1731.

3. Huge success here, the Andy G buy in saw 18 new coins arrive including 12 gothic florins all with readable dates. Apart from 1911, 1903 - 06 and a few Old Heads, the Florin collection is looking great. I am only missing one Jubilee coin and that is the common 1887!

Florins are the go forward coin at the moment, when I wrote this I had 2 dateless gothics and one good and very expensive one, I have now 12 more coins all around VG to Fine!

4. Not complete, but more success here, the Florins from 1940 to 1963 are now complete with only 1939 eluding me. I also have 1933, 34, 36, 38 and a very nice 1934/35 Melbourne Florin (Extremely rare coin). Other triumphs include adding AU 1945, 1951 and 1959 Florins and UNC 1954 Royal Visit. On the old side fairly average 1916, 1924 and 1925 dated coins have been added.

Modern coin collecting has taken off, with my Australian Coloured $2 coin collection being complete to the end of 2020 with 2 examples of the scarce 2013 Diamond Jubilee coin.

I have also added 2 nice sterling silver proof sets to the bullion/bling part of my coin collection and its 8 albums and 3 shoeboxes full of stuff!
Loving Halfcrowns. British and Commonwealth coins 1750 - 1950 and anything Kiwi.
If it's round, shiny and silvery I will love it.

Thanks, I should quantify that the Halfcrowns are farily complete back to 1816, I have over 80% of all the dates 1816 to 1837 and its really those hard coins dated 1839, 1840 and 1841 that elude me in British halfcrowns (And lets be honest, 90% of other British halfcrown collectors - will find those coins frustrating and expensive).
