The pictures are still too blurry, but it certainly looks like a spitting eagle. I can't tell much about the ear. Before sending it to PCGS, you should find out from them whether they would attribute a new variety. The first step might be getting high quality photos and posting it on VAMWorld to get some opinions.

Thank you again for your valued advise Zurie, I do recon you will see this coin as a new rarity and another attribute with VAM, we have had a lot of interest in the coin - we'll organise some professional images and send them to VAM, I'll keep you updated with the progress

Better photos would be great to try and save you some money and consternation later. Really good photos can allow folks to try and help you before you spend a lot of time and energy on this.

Hello VAMsforMoney, thank you for your friendly advice, yes I totally agree the images are not the best.
We have spoken to a coin dealer who is going to examine and image the coin before we seek VAM advice for a new attribute. He said the obverse ear is very unusual and none have been recorded and also the reverse clear die chip hasn't been noted on the 1884 CC as a variety (Spitting Eagle) he has advised the coin will have a high premium value when it fully researched. We feel his opinion will be worth while, although the fees are high we know this should be worthwhile. we haven't used this forum before and finding it very helpful so far. We will keep you up to date with new images and any news from VAM - Thank you VAMsforMoney

Those folks only deal with VAM's...that's where I would start.

Looking fwd to your post over there and seeing what the experts have to say.

Hello Guys,
I received my images back and there were no errors found the dealer said they were just original reflections, he said the coin was full brilliant uncirculated and would grade high - any thoughts on grade.

It should make 64. The parallel scratches on Liberty's cheek and jaw are grade-limiting, hopefully not serious enough to cause a details grade.

Weird how that very prominent "spitting eagle" feature completely disappeared. It looked pretty real in the earlier images.
