When considering purchasing an entry level(beginner)detector which characteristics are more important(ie depth meter, target ID,or pinpointing)?.I primarily will be detecting for jewelry and coins.Appreciate any responses.Thanks.

All three of the options that you have listed are equally important.

all three of those options combine together to improve the over all experiance, by making it easier for you to find locate and dig the targets in a more precise manner.

digging less junk targets!!
digging more and quicker on the good hits.

Of the 3 you list I think TID is most useful. You can learn to pinpoint with any machine and depth is a conveniance.
