ok so let me explain: ive got a some 90% that I want to consolidate ive got a few rolls of roosevelts, mercs, walking libertys, few morgans, roll of quarters, some barbers, SLQ's etc... what I am looking for is Peace dollarsfor example, I've got $50 in 90% in many denominations, but would like 50 Peace dollars.. i am hoping this trade is as simple as it sounds. all my 90% has original surfaces and are NOT cleaned. so I would hope for the same. I am not interested in AG-G Peace dollars. its straight up, 90% for 90%. please let me know if any out there would be interested

Silver dollars have more silver in them than an equivalent amount of fractional coins. You would need 534.6 dimes to equal the amount of silver in 50 Peace dollars. Since you asked. :)

$1 coins generally carry a slight premium over other coins. If you wanted to trade for Half dollars you might have more luck but I suspect most people here would not mind a similar trade... get rid of those pesky small coins for something more substantial..

I would think that you would have to at least pick up shipping cost for someone to consider it. There's not much motivation to pay to ship some silver to receive the same amount of silver in return.

Uh not a fair trade as 50 silver dollars have more silver than $50 fv 90%

You would have to offer $1.07 of 90% per silver dollar just to get the melt in line. People tend to pay a premium for the Dollars so I would think $1.1 or more will get you some trades.

ok.. yea I did the math last night. I wonder why 4 silver quarters don't equal $1 silver dollar. its like .05oz short...
but back in the day when the standard was silver, couldnt you give 4 quarters for 1 silver dollar or did it work differently back then too?
so I would have to figure out how many ounces of silver I had with each denomination and then figure out how many silver dollars per ounce of silver equals that...
really confusing.. but I understand now. do I have the logic right?

Back when silver coins were the only ones circulating.... I think (may be wrong) that their face value was worth more than metal value. So trading 4 quarters for a dollar was fine. But now that silver is way high, we have to look at silver value in each denomination, instead of just trading 4 quarters for one dollar.
