I was wondering if anyone can confirm whether or not this is an overdate. To my untrained eye, it looks like an 8 over 3?

Hi, I collect overdates and the first place I like to start is with documentation.
The only Shilling overdates I see recorded for this period are 1848/6, 1850/46, 1854/1, and 1859/8
The coin you pictured is well-worn and the shape of the 8 could easily be due to wear/damage.

there are lots of undocumented overdates in the Victorian series though, not much interest in them it seems.
