Been absent for awhile due to a pile of work down on the farm but slowed down now that we're in the usual Manitoba deep-freeze called winter.

Mail call today and my latest Canadian gold coin, a 1987 $5 .9999 pure gold 1/10th oz coin, had showed up. It's a beautiful little coin, very shiny. The scratches are on the protective plastic case.

Here's a nice example of coinage from early Canada:

Canadian 1/2 Penny "Lower Canada Token To Facilitate Trade" 1825, appears to be the Closed Sleeve variant, Copper

Here's an interesting token penny issued on PEI in 1859:

E.L. Lydiard - 1 cent 1859, appears to be the Clevis - #8593;#8593; variety

Speed the Plough, with a one ploughshare

Success to the Fisheries
, with a fillet of Cod

I bet there aren't too many coins out there with fish fillets on them, has anyone ever seen another?

Been there & got all the T-Shirts.

If the coin had die chips, you could claim fish and chips...

Awesome! Ironically, it's the seals who decimate the cod population especially since the seal hunt has been curtailed over the years. Thanks for sharing this interesting coin!

As mentioned in "what did you add to your stash," I just finished the purchase of a Canadian Olympic set. LCS offered it to me for $620 back in November; I bought half last month, and half today. The movement in silver boosted the set's value.
