I am a sucker for old pennies and half pennies. My favorite foreign (to me) coins. Now I'm jealous.

That 1863 is a beautiful coin. Which mail slot is it supposed to go through? Do you suppose the Royal Mail carriers could be bribed? ;)

Eric, if you'd like pm me what condition/years of pennies and half's you're looking for. The boot sales start up again in about a month. The guy that I meet up with sells them in good to fine at 7 for a pound ($1.63). He has them in nicer shape as well. I'll have to ask him prices on the rest. My oldest loves them too. We've picked up about 20 halfs in good enough shape that you can clearly see the port holes.

Heh, I stumped up for it though. The obverse has some minor issues but I loved the toning on the reverse. Pity I'm not rich enough to go for a date run in high grade. Will have to settle for one of each type of pre decimal coin in the highest grade I can afford.

I'm looking at trying the same type set. Mine will probably just be a lower quality set.

Got this 1813 half stiver from a local coin shop. Not exactly UK but from Essequebo colonies.

Nice one sml, coins and tokens from the colonies are some of my favorite. Here's 1/2 and 1 stiver;

I acquired this one recently... not your stereotypical English coin but an Anglo-Saxon silver sceat.

It's listed in Spinks but caused some headscratching as they have changed the reference number since my edition (a few years old now) This coin is also a few years old too, dating to 695-740AD.

sml/Harry123 those are very nice coins, if you don't me asking how much did they cost you?

Part of my family is from Guyana, and I am starting collecting coins from British Guiana and colonies era, prices seem a bit variable though.

I had to troll eBay for weeks to snag those 2 for around $10 to $15 each. I know what you mean about variable prices, they don't come up alot on eBay so people usually auction them with high starting bids, so be patient. I also have the One Stiver token featuring Seated Britania, people often confuse it with the Canadian Token series.
