Saw one of those 1847's up for £10k and slowly backed away.
Even if I could buy one, I don't want to sleep on the sofa.

Well NumisRob has one and it cost him nowhere near that figure. It was low 4s. Like the NZ Waitangi Crown, the Gothic one remains out of reach, so you make do.
A wreath crown is perfectly fine booby prize coinage - my EF Godless Florin and several Gothic Florins make up for that loss, several high grade NZ halfcrowns and multi Royal Visit crowns do as substitutes.
Basically all my best coins cost around that $500 or so mark and thats really enough to get some designer and scarce pieces, enough to glossify a collection, and get some oohs and aahs off you all. But at the same I still get to eat, wear clothes and have 4 walls around me!

Postman came today.... he's not a happy chappy, riding his scooter around in the rain. A bunch of GB coins to help fill some large gaps. 1917 GB Shilling  1918 GB Shilling  1919 GB Shilling  1928 GB Shilling with die cracks through legend on both sides  1929 GB Shilling  1935 GB Shilling  1936 GB Shilling  And finally for a laugh.......... a very untidy 1837 "To Hanover" gaming token complete with reverse rim Cud at 4 o'clock  Thanks for looking The Ox moves slowly, but the Earth is patient.

Stop me if you know but the To Hanover token was a joke about Ernest Augustus, the Duke of Cumberland. He was a younger brother of William IV and George IV and a son of George III. He was not thrilled when Victoria became Queen and felt he should become king as he was an older man and had a more direct link to King George III being a son.
However primogeniture rules put Victoria next in line being the daughter of Edward Duke of Kent (The 4th child, Ernest was 6th). George was the oldest, but his daughter Princess Charlotte died in 1817 aged 21. Frederick and William only had illegitimate children and Victoria was the only surving child of Edward who died in 1820. King William also favoured Victoria and made it his life's goal to make to Victoria's 18th birthday so the evil Ernest and John Conroy (Victoria's mothers consort) would not be a regent for the underaged queen to be. He succeeded dying some 32 days after Victoria's 18th birthday and she became Queen outright on William's death.
However Hanoverian rules banned female electors, so Ernest at least got the position as Hannovers new Elector/King and the Hanoverian arms disappeared off the royal shield in the UK. However this did not stop Ernest conniving and only with Albert's arrival did he finally "shove off". Also he was not popular (Although Victoria herself struggled in her first years with the Flora Hastings scandal and idiots wanting to kill her).

Lol...yes, I did know the basics of the joke, but not embellished with all of the furnishings. My history lessons only took me part way. Thanks for the rest of the story.
It always amazes me how the Royal family progressed to where it is today, and just how different it may have become had any one of the alternatives occurred throughout the reigns of the 63(?)monarchs.

Apart from that, I'm slowly building a framework of coins, and hoping to have a couple or a few from each the decades. Then in time I can build around them and flesh the collection out. I have some more coming, half crowns and florins, some more tokens, some mediaeval and ancient world coins, so coin life is good.....you know the feeling too.

I just brought a huge collection of my coin ladies and for once there was a lot of silver, after buying some worn 1900, 1903 and 1909 3d's a package of 45 of them and inside, VF examples of those years and UNC 1921 and 1922. I will show these coins after all the processing.
Also UNC 1949/50/51 6d and a near UNC 1947 Penny - not rare but they are seldom seen!
