@vonigohcr

Thanks for the tip, but I couldn't even dream of a set. I have a Pride of Two Nations set and would like to do my own Pride of Two Nations. I have a couple of GSA Morgans and would like to get a Klondike gold 1912 $5 in original RCM packaging. I think the history behind both is cool. I checked the sites recommended (and a couple of others) with no luck. Guess I'll have to be patient like some of the forum members who waited months for delivery of theirs. Maybe something will come along.

A little bit ago I acquired a 1912 $5 PCGS ms64 with the Gold Hoard label which completes my set that I started when they first came out. I first became interested when I was starting to invest a percentage into gold and I came across the press release about the sale of these coins and then then this site. When I visited the RCM site there were only 1914 coins left so I ordered 2 five dollars and 1 ten dollar. While I was waiting for them with everyone else I noticed there was thousands graded already while no one on this site had received theirs. A little bit of a firestorm started and some people mainly in the States started cancelling their orders. Then someone on this site mentioned because of the returns you might be able to get more ,so I phoned in and was able to acquire another $5 1914 and a 1912 $ 10 . So I joined PCGS and sent them in for grading. They came back as follows 1912 $10 ms 63 ,1914 $10 ms64 , 2- 1914 $5 ms64 and the last 1914 $5 that I acquired came back a ms 64+ and it was definitely better than the other 2 1914 $5. After that I acquired a 1913 $10 already graded as PCGS ms 64 for $900 US with the same label in 2016. Then I purchased a 1913 $5 in the mint case for $736 in 2016 from a dealer in Quebec and sent it in for grading and was able to still use the same label and it came back as PCGS ms 64. The last coin the 1912 $5 came in February this year. Before this I had not looked at my small coin collection for probably 30 yrs and I found the hunt quite exciting and informative. Because of this I started looking at other Canadian gold mainly sovereigns ( I realize some don't consider them Canadian but I think they are neat).I have also acquired a few other Canadian coins, but traded off just about all my modern RCM nclt for more bullion. As well I also become interested in old pour silver bars and collected them along the way. The hunt was fun and I enjoyed reading all the posts here of all of the extremely knowledgable members and have learned a lot. I usually don't have much to say but really enjoy reading here. Seeing as I am going stir crazy now I thought I would just share my hunt.

Look up the PCGS video on a famous Canadian dealer who had first crack on this hoard coins and how the RCM marketed to the rest of us as a no return as is sale

sbr, did you publish your PCGS coins in the Canadian $5 &$10
registry? If you got the Trueview photos, we can all see them.

SPP-OTTAWA I don't believe I published in the registry but I just checked through their verification spot and the pictures are there of my original order of 5 coins but not not of the purchased ones or the 1913 $5 that I sent in later for grading.I can give the cert numbers if anyone is interested .One question I noticed that a lot of times people don't show the numbers on ICCS flips or PCGS just wondering why?

Looks like you did well.
Your set would rank #2.
5/6 upgraded at least two full notches.
About a $7000.00 increase in book value.

Cool! Nice job!

Surprised about the 1914 $10 grading. Would have guessed that the grade by PCGS would have been slight higher, as it just matched ICCS.

Well 185 pages in and I'm finally working on this set. Sigh. I have a feeling it will take me years to accumulate a full set of 64 or higher. Better late than never? :)

Hah! Going to revive this thread again. Coin 6 of 6 is on its way to me right now. I'll post pics when I get the last one here. I managed in 6 months or so to accumulate all 6 coins in MS64 or higher. Pretty impressed with how well that went. Now to get them all in 65 or higher, right? Lol.

1912 $5 MS65
1913 $5 MS64
1914 $5 MS64
1912 $10 MS64
1913 $10 MS64
1914 $10 MS64+

I'll be working on upgrades for the next 6 or 8 years now. :)

@ Levaril
Nice, congratulations! You did great and in just 5 mos. I'm over a year in and looking for a 1912 $5 in original RCM packaging, preferably the regular hand selected.

Yeah I also have a 1913 $5 Hand Selected and a 1914 $10 Premium Hand Selected in original packaging as well just to have a complete set to show. Also ended up with an extra 1912 $5 MS64 for the heck of it. I think I'll work on a second set. Maybe someday I'll have a collection like Tripoli's. Lol
