The near date/wide rim is easy to figure out. If the width of 1 of the date will fit in the gap between the bottom of the 1 and the edge of the rim then it is NOT the near date/wide rim.

Any thoughts on this DDR? 2000-P Sacagawea. I sold the last of my Speared Eagle errors this week and decided to search a box of dollars. First of these that I've ever seen.

Ok. The Eagle really stood out to me. Stupid question.... What is the difference between Machine Doubling and just a double die? Any extra value?

Interesting find on the impaired proof. I tend to find a few in halves pretty frequently. Nice find!

Very excited! I finally found something.
Got 1 roll of dollars today and found a wounded eagle.
Was too excited to wait and get proper pictures, so these horrid phone pics will have to do.

I was down to the very last roll of my most recent box and found TWO Speared Eagles. The first was awesome, but the second one completely blew me away.

That makes it a total of 4 on the year.

WVBlueandGold, awesome finds! To answer your old follow-up question, the differences between Machine Doubling and a Doubled Die, is Machine Doubling usually reduces the size of the devices, and is shelf-like in appearance, while a genuine Doubled Die will increase the size of the devices. Machine Doubling is caused by the strike itself (from the die bouncing off and slightly landing in a different spot), while a Doubled Die is on the die itself. A Doubled Die occurs, when there's a mistake during the die making process. Here's my very helpful Machine Doubling tutorial if you want to know more about Machine Doubling. http://goccf.com/t/332421
