kind of a niche product isn't it, there could be a market for people married or celebrating a major anniversary in 2007, but who needs 2+?

Here are 2 that sold recently on eBay

The second one that sold for under $400 must have been a steal. All the ones prior to that sold for over $800.

Do you have any thoughts on that?

Hey did you not post on another thread that you had picked a few up for $90. Could you share how much you are selling them for or are you just buying them for your collection?

Check it out! Just the silver loon dollar for sale on eBay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/13095043664....m1423.l2649

So.... Is it the complete wedding proof set that is commanding the price, or are collectors just after the silver loonie. Personally I'm only after the silver loonie and could care less about the set as a whole.

For me, just the loon. I broke the set apart when I bought it some time ago. The loon went into my 'proof loon collection', the rest were sold as singles...

$500 for a proof silver dollar. That's the only set I didn't buy that year.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

I have been following these coins as I collect the loonie. The proof silver loonie in the 2007 wedding set only came in that set. It was not included in any other sets. In fact all the other sets had different proof silver loonies.

If I were buying them I would therefore buy the set if there is not much premium.

It gets interesting for the 2008 and 2006 silver proof loonies. The same types were produced in different sets. I am sure there are many collectors who are paying ridiculously high prices for single loonies based on the limited quantities of specific sets. There are over 8000 - 2008 silver proof loonies from different sets that are the same. However the wedding set itself from 2008 was of very small quantity.

Take a look about this issue in my post here where a reputable dealer is selling a 2008 silver proof loonie as a single based on the quantities of set produced:

The 2007 silver loon dollar I posted the link to above sold for $999.99.

Is it worth it for a single coin the is only 6 years old and has been removed from its original set?

Just think of all the other key date Canadian decimal coins you could buy with that kind of $$$$$$.
