Whoa! If their attribution has never been narrowed down further than the Breton numbers on those holders, you could find yourself tripping over some pretty scarce coppers. The LC-58's, for example, the NS-3's, etc., etc.

Condition wise, this is the highest grade piece from the lot. Province of Canada 1857 one penny, Ch PC-6D. I think it is Courteau #292 (R8) except it does not have the dot above the horse's left knee. Maybe Franck aka: ainsivalavie can confirm.   |

Here's a couple of scarcer Bouquet Sou varieties. LC-20A1, Br671 JH Roy. Low grade with hairlines from an old cleaning.   LC-21, Br680. With the fine pitting of environmental damage.   |

Can you email me higher resolution photos of the obverse and reverse? (The ones on the forum are too small) Thank you. That said, it's a beautiful token.

Working through my numerous Wellies I've found a few decent penny and halfpenny examples out of the "Field Marshal" series. This particular large penny type is undated but presumed to have circulated 1812-1815 alongside all the other Wellington tokens that were issued in Britain and Ireland and found their way to Canada with and/or for the garrisoned troops, according to some exonumismatographers.*
This specimen is quite noticeably overstruck on a Bristol Patent Sheathing Nails token and is considered pretty rare in this condition, per Charlton's $$$ scale. That's supported by the RRR scarcity rating in Withers.
I don't know what flavor of MS this would be, but I sure can't find any wear on it. (I always look at the seated woman's right thumb for subtle clues!) Any thoughts on that?Charlton WE-4A2, Breton, 970, Withers 1490c. * That's the fancy eight-syllable technical term for "I read it somewhere."
