This is my first post in this forum as I usually participate in the Classic coins forums. The March edition of the ANA magazine Numismatist had an article about Scovill Mfg that interested me. They were a huge producer of tokens and my Dad worked in the brass mill for many years. I have one of their 1837 tokens and saw that it was pictured in the March edition. My token is a replica produced in the 1950s (R on reverse) and this was clearly documented on page 34 of the magazine.

For some unexplained reason I searched on ebay and saw two sellers advertising their tokens as original when they were really 1950s replicas. I notified both and the first changed his listing immediately but the second said he would change it when the original listing expired. Here's his new listing still claiming that it is original. http://www.ebay.com/itm/19111856929...RK:MEBIDX:IT

Is there a way to get ebay to remove the listing or at least make the seller mark it as a replica?

I concur, Cipster. I've reported a few of these in the past and will report this one.

1) Click "Report Item" down the right side of the page, and a new screen appears.
2) Select "Prohibited and restricted items"
3) Next, select "stamps, currency and coins"
4) Then, select "replica coins ..."
5) Click on the "Continue button"
6) Finally, click on the "Send Report button"

The more folks who file reports, the more attention ebay will pay ..... hopefully!

Forget that method. Go straight to the CCW with http://www.ebay.com/ccw

Reports using that link go straight to Judith and Tiffany so they get in the right hands a lot sooner.

This method has worked fine for me. I like the simplicity of the point&click. It's quick ... less typing!

So now the seller who changed his listing to indicate that it is a repro has relisted it with no mention of it being a repro. I'll report this one also.
