I agree. UK doesn't seem like the best place to auction Colonial silver and being told $1.2M it seems like they weren't getting good advice. I'd never heard of this auction house and I'm sure many others haven't either. Free money for the seller though. Barely circulated and ending up in the ground in England is pretty interesting.

A H Baldwin & Sons Ltd has a history that dates to 1872 and is one of the largest and longest established numismatic dealers and auction houses in the world. While not a big name in the USA, in Europe they were around with Spink & Sons, Sotheby's, Glendinig among others. They have always been a top numismatic dealer. They have had a few co-owners and partners over the decades but always known as Baldwin's. Today they are known for their auctions, primarily British tokens, coins, and military medals, Ancient, Russian, Islamic and Indian coinage.
