Well, first week of the year and there's.. something atleast.

10 Öre, Sweden 1969, 1973 & 1982
25 Řre, Denmark 2003
50 Öre, Sweden 1998, 2001 (x2) & 2004
Sega token

1 Krona, Sweden 1982 & 2001
5 Kronor, Sweden 2008
10 Baht, Thailand
1 Onluk, Ottoman Empire (1203(9))=1795
1 Cash, China (Kangxi; Yunnan)

This lot for 20 kr. Now, at first I though the Ottoman piece was another ornamental coin with the holes and rather crude design, but after a closer inspection indeed it looked like a proper coin, just a bit old and pierced. Then again, I don't believe those ornamental coins tend to have the "dirty silver" look, it's either gold or silver of some kind.

As things have it, I will be spending most of the remaining year in Singapore, and as such I will (probably) not be reporting anything in here soon.

Cheers!

Have fun in Singapore Andreas. It will be interesting to
see if you find a good market there too.

So a bit of time has passed and I'm starting to get my routines in order... including Sunday Markets! I found one in a somewhat confusing indoor market space... but that's doesn't mean there are no coins!

1 Cent, Sarawak (Malaysian Borneo) 1890
1 Cent, Malaya 1957 & 1962
5 Cents, Malaya 1919
10 Cents, Malaya 1910, 1927 & 1945
20 Cents, Malaya 1939
1 Ringgit, Malaysia 1993

1/4 Rupee, Mauritius 1965
2.50 Escudos, Portugese Timor 1970
10 Poisha, Bangladesh 1994
25 Centavos, Cuba 1988 (INTUR)
5 Toea, Papua New Guinea 2005
20 Toea, Papua New Guinea 2010
1 Mark, Germany 1982-D
2 Mark, Germany 1990-J

10 Avos, Macau 2010
10 Cents, Australia 1998 (proof)
50 Yuan, Taiwan 1996
50 Sen, Brunei 1967
50 Sentimos, Philippines 1972
2˝ Cent, Netherland Indies, 1858
1 Dollar, Hong Kong 1866 China circa 1990?

Perhaps a bit pricey for S$25, especially considering the fake. However, while I am confident the HK dollar is fake, I'm not so sure about its metal, as I'm actually pretty sure it is silver of some sort. Probably actual silver, I will see if I can check it somewhere. If nothing else comes up next Sunday, I am sure to come back!

Nice assortment Andreas. You can see the difference in
the type of coins you are finding. Still some German coins though.

So last week I got in a bit late to this market space, whereas this week I had planned it in so I could come a bit earlier. I realise I might have overspent a little today, but believe me it was still a steal! I'm very confident I wasn't taken for a ride - one of the quirks of Asia is the abundant fakes around which was overwhelmingly clear today when checking everyone's stuff out!

10 Sen, Indonesia 1951
50 Sen, Indonesia 1952 & 1958
1 Rupiah, Indonesia 1971
10 Rupiah, Indonesia 1974
1000 Rupiah, Indonesia 1996
10 Sen, Brunei 1994
20 Sen, Brunei 1994

5 Cents, Straits Settlements 1895, 1920 & 1926
10 Cents, Cents, Straits Settlements 1918
20 Cents, Straits Settlements 1916
1 Dollar, Singapore 1969
1 Won, South Korea 1974
2 Paisa, Nepal 1961
5 Poisha, Bangladesh 1979

2˝ Cents, Netherland Indies 1945-P
1/10 Gulden, Netherland Indies 1945-P
1/4 Gulden, Netherland Indies 1893,1929, 1939, 1941-P (x2) & 1945-P
1/4 Rupee, British India 1840

˝ Gulden, Netherland 1857, 1861, 1898, 1907 (x2) & 1913
1 Mark, Germany 1972-J
2 Franken, Switzerland 1972

10 Centavos, Cuba 1949
50 Centimos, Spain 1904
10 Centimes, French Indochina 1929
20 Centavos, Philippines 1945-D
5 Kurush, Ottoman Empire 1910

Perhaps cheap at S$63, but still one of my most expensive visits to a Sunday market ever. Considering the prices though - can't pass that up. Most of the silvers were $2 each, many of which under melt! But what I particularly like here is the many ˝ Gulden coins - I rarely see these in Sweden! They really do tell the story of the Dutch presence in this region well over 70 years ago!

Nice coins. Is there a plan to get all these new coins back home or is this your permanent location?
