France 1955, 10,000 francs.

This post-war design from 1945 shows on the obverse a young woman with a book, an olive branch, and other symbols for peaceful studies and education. The reverse shows a young man (somewhat androgynous, at first I thought this note showed two women ) and symbols for art and architecture.

It's a big note, 22 x 12 cm. The paper is quite thin, one sees through the note and elements of the reverse design are clearly visible in the image of the obverse and vice versa.

That 10,000 Francs is a beauty 'erafjel.' They're big & with the thin paper tough to get in high grades- so great collectible condition even though a large denomination.

Here's the back of P-13b, the Singapore $50, featuring a women dancer and a few marching band players:

-Thanks 'jbuck' I thought so too.

So here's another one, actually a very inexpensive acquisition which surprised me (that I actually won):

It features Queen Medb & I've wanted it for a while more for the art on the reverse (that the queen image). I threw a super low-ball bid & won it as a PMG graded not cheaper than what I would have paid for it raw (on eBay). The other thing I found interesting about this P-70c is that it has a date not listed on the banknote museum, but only on Numista (& as one with less than 1% reported for 09/29/1982).

-Thanks again 'jbuck.'

Here's another example from Estonia. It happens to be P-82, a 1999 100 Krooni featuring the 19th century journalist, poet/dramatist, Lydia Koidula.

She lived in the 4th largest city of Estonia, Parnu, which I visited in 2013 (beautiful beach on the Baltic sea). Sadly, female writers were scorned during this era so she wrote anonymously & in order to assist her journalist/poet father.
