Coin is up for auction today at GreatCollections and as of this writing it has 19 bids and 8 hours to go and there is a link below photo but before you go, grade from these photos ..... And if you like post your grade before you look ....

I don't believe anyone will get the same grade NGC and if you do, I've got plenty of coins to run by ya all and see if you like em' .....

Link has grade in it ..... Don't look at link until you grade .... Link below last picture ......

I own this VF25 which I believe is a much better coin - above and beyond better but if just buying from Grade I would of gone with XF40 over the VF25 shown .....

I constantly see these differences between Slabbed coins - I understand there is differences but widespread as in these from same company lends me to take Graded Coins with a grain of salt, or something like that ....

LocalCoinGuy, that coin is XF at the least. Great looking coin, horrible fumble by NGC.

As for the OPs coin, VF tops.

Just checked: OMG wow NGC... Horrendous job.

VF 20 the coin has a strong date, but I do not like the horn on the reverse.

This is not a coin that I would be interested in buying at the NGC grade.

My first thought/hunch was VF35. Then, after studying it for about 20 seconds I decided on VF30 due to the strong date. I agree that the horn does hold it back further. Buffalo nickels are difficult to grade. Raw, this coin is a winner in my book.

lack of full horn would hold this back

Thanks ChildofTheWheat - I like it too, color is super

What I meant to say was:

I like my VF25, which I think coukd grade higher but not enough horn for XF but much better than the Subject XF ...... XF, heck AU compared to,Subject Coin!

I guessed 35 knowing that the reverse strike on most 21-S is very weak. Take a look at MS of this date/mm and you can see even more clearly how terrible many reverse strikes are.

My first thought was F-15 , Mushy top of reverse and no horn . also this coin might have been cleaned. look at the fields on both sides.
Just another reason why I dislike slabbed coins.

On the GC coin, I was thinking VF-30 without looking.

@T-Bop some 1921-S's show toning streaks due to poor planchet preparation.

Here's a page from the Lawrence book on these https://www.davidlawrence.com/books...date/1921-s/

Having assembled many matched grade sets of Buff's over the years, I too was at VF-20 as a net grade. I'll be surprised if the price realized surpasses $400. The money is on the horn.

Coin went for little over $431 plus Buyer's Fee of $43 and shipping ..... $485-$490 to your door, wow .....

And yes I think the reverse was cleaned at one time, there are light scratches consistent with cleaning!

Here is another poorly graded coin, same grader and I think this one is over graded by 10 if not 15 points and I also suspect it was cleaned but no mention of that, so perhaps not but has the appearance .... Ugly VF30 .....
