Hey coop, not sure if you have done it already, it seems up your ally, I recently posted about the odd time a die is imprinted with a struck through. I was given a couple examples. Do you have any info on these varieties?

Well keep in mind that these are mint errors. A one off event. So there will probably no listing on the sites. But information can be found on Mike Diamond's site on specific topics. Best to post images on the site on a separate thread. That way others can assist or we can call in the specialist. Nice question, the response will also benefit others that read this in the future.

Would a die struck through still be considered an error over a variety? It would not be unique or specific to one coin as in my recent threat posted on the topic. If a die is struck through(rather then the coin) would it still be considered an error? Other then the few examples talked about and the one example posted I can't find any info on this. A die chip is a die chip, some can be names like bugtail beavers, but it's still a die chip. If a die is struck through then every coin struck afterwards would have same issue with different die states.

The only names out there for this sort of thing are die chips and die damage(aside from the names errors caused by this event like the superbird) a die clash would fall into the same category of die damage if that is the case.

Edit: it is a reverse die clash(not a die clash on the reverse) should it not have it's own name considering it is far less uncommon the a die clash?

If an error was struck onto a variety coin, it would be both An error and a Variety. But don't look for a bump up in price. The two are different types of collectors. One collects only errors, the other only varieties. So figure out which camp would pay the most.
One doesn't care if it is variety. The other camp usually doesn't want a problem coin. So the value doesn't raise the price.

I'm not sure if you ever read the thread but there are American examples posted at the end.

This is purely out of curiosity, some of these would be considered varieties due to the fact it happened during the hubbing process. Others would be considered errors. I still have not found any sort of description on this though and only a few examples were told to me. This error/variety has no name or description yet it exists non the less?

Sorry forgot to include the thread.http://goccf.com/t/412483
