What is spread on the devices as seen on a doubled die? How is this different from Machine Doubling? Spread= Enlarged devices on the die. Machine doubling is caused by the machine that removes the contour of the devices. One is caused by the die, the other is caused by the machine. Yes, both can happen on a strike, but only the die causes a doubled die coin. Machine doubling never makes a doubled die, only Machine Doubling.
